DVB-T2 is the second generation digital TV system that is extention of DVB-T - conventional European TV standard. It is known the world's most advanced transmission technology used in digital terrestrial broadcasting with a high degree of flexibilities and efficiencies.
It uses the OFDM modulation scheme and transmits the broadcast signal after BCH/LDPC channel coding.
DVB-T2 is noise-resistant than traditional method and increases the transfer efficiency about 30%. because it disperses the transmission traffic through multiple physical layer pipes. Therefore, it can provide different services up to 256 and increase the transfer rate up to 50Mbps.
As the system-wide transmission time synchronization can be obtained by GPS receiver, we can efficiently operate the frequency resource by constructing the SFN(Single Fequency Network).
ST-BS100 DVB-T2 Exciter is compliant the ETSI EN 302 755 v1.2.1 standard and supports the multiple physical layer pipes(PLP) up to 8.
The input signals are handles by two ASI and a gigabit ethernet port. And it has a GPS antenna port to process the received GPS signal and can also send and receive 1 PPS time reference signal for interworking with a relay system.
ST-BS100 can increase the efficiency of AMP by supporting the PAPR(Peak to Average Power Ratio).
We have developed DVB-T2 exciter by applying the adaptive-DPD technology that can relax much of the linear distortion by channel filter and non-linear distortion generated by AMP.
ST-BS100 has a built-in DPD features to compensate linear of the channel filter and non-linear distortion by the AMP.
For Non-linear DPD, it flips the coupled signal from an AMP to baseband with a RF down converter, and then extracts some needed parameters by measuring non-linearity of AMP through the comparision of the A/D signal and signal before being converted to D/A signal. After estimating the distortion level of AMP, it applies the characteristics of AM/AM, AM/PM on the end of digital.
In case of linear DPD, operation is proceeds similarly as above but ST-BS100 compensates for the distortion with filter method unlike non-linear DPD.
The performance of ST-BS100 is indirectly indicated by the results of measurement with Agilent N9020A MXA equipment.
